Responding to Malaysia's provocation with Furious Anger...

... or at least Vengeance.

This was a comment on FaceBook regarding Minister for Foreign Affairs reply to MPs who wanted to know what was Singapore's response to the continued and escalating provocation from Malaysia intruding into our waters and claiming it.
From Pulp Fiction:
"The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of the darkness. For he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers."
It would have been so COOL if Vivian B quoted that in Parliament.
And then explain: What we do is righteous, but being right often means being "beset on all sides by the inequities" of well, maybe not evil, but definitely foolish, men. Or maybe just the insecurities of an old man.
We have a responsibility to act with charity and goodwill. The people (civil servants? military?) on the intruding Malaysian boats are NOT our enemy. We have NO QUARREL with people just following orders. We do not want to start a shooting war. We will shepherd the weak (yes, including the Malaysian crew on the intruding boats, if they are truly weak and not an antagonist), through these dark times. But when push comes to shove, when a shooting war has started we may not have started it, but we will end it... with great vengeance and furious anger.

(Note to Pedants: Yes, I know that's not what is written in Ezekiel.)
The FB comment left out the last part of the quote:
"And you will know I am the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon you."
Coincidentally, one of our corvettes is RSS Vengeance.

We just need to name one of our frigates "RSS Furious Anger".
